Will I Fail A Drug Test From Taking Hemp Extract?

Are you concerned that taking hemp extract will make you fail a drug test?

Until recently, a lot of athletes were left in limbo when it comes to whether or not consuming CBD is legal.

Thankfully, this is no longer the case!

You’ll be happy to know…

Athletes can consume hemp CBD worry-free.

However, there are some important things to keep in mind. We break down what every competitive athlete needs to know about taking hemp extract.

After a workout I immediately take the iKOR Recovery Shot, and it works magnificently. It helps to hammer down the inflammation caused from the training. I have very positive outcomes when I use the Recovery Shot.

There Are Some Major Differences Between THC and CBD

There is a lot of confusion surrounding cannabis, CBD, and hemp.

CBD is present in both cannabis and hemp. However, there are some clear distinctions between the two.

While both cannabis and hemp are varieties of cannabis sativa, hemp only contains a trace amount of Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC.

THC is the compound in cannabis responsible for the plant’s psychoactive effects. Cannabis is the variety widely known as marijuana, while hemp does not contain enough THC to produce any psychoactive qualities.

Hemp extract and CBD do not make you feel high or contain THC which is the chemical compound drug tests screen for. That means athletes are safe to use hemp extract for recovery, relaxation, and sleep aid without worry about drug tests.

Here’s What The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Has to Say About CBD

According to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) CBD is no longer considered a controlled substance.

Therefore, athletes who consume hemp extract do not need to fear failing a drug test.

However, it is important to note that not all CBD products are alike. Some products, particularly those that are derived from cannabis instead of hemp, may contain some THC content.

THC is still considered a controlled substance in the U.S. Therefore, any traceable quantities of THC in your system could cause you to fail a drug test.

It is recommended that competitive athletes use exclusively pure hemp extract, especially those formulated with athletes in mind.

What Type of Hemp Extract Should Athletes Look for?

Now that you know you can consume CBD without failing a drug test, you can focus your research on which type of hemp extract product is right for you.

We recommend searching for full spectrum CBD products over isolates. Instead of isolating a single compound, full spectrum products include all of the beneficial components of the plant.

Research shows that the compounds in hemp are actually more effective together. This phenomenon is known as the entourage effect.

If you want to experience the whole range of potential health benefits, opt for full spectrum CBD, like our 300mg hemp extract.

Designed by and for athletes, this oil is specifically designed to help your body recover from the stresses of training for maximum recovery.
